The dragon struggled out of its egg, straining its neck against the inner shell to poke outside. It was greeted with bright light which hurt his eyes. The scent outside was unusual too. Well everything was unusual cause he hadn’t properly smelt before. It looked around – there were a few other eggs in a small nest nearby. he poked a little at them curiously.

Where was he? He looked around but couldn’t see much as the dragons eyes were getting used to the light. Soon he heard a flapping of wings and a huge shadow got closer and larger as a tornado seemed to surround the nest briefly until a huge version of the original dragon descended. He saw a huge eye peering at him with amusement. And a squawk of delight.

The weeks passed by as the little dragon was fed and encouraged by his mother. A few brothers hatched along the way. One died out of mysterious reasons but two others survived. He enjoyed playing in the nest with them and fighting over the food even though there was more than enough to go round. Till one day the mother did not come home.

An adventurer had shot flaming arrows at the mother while his mage friend cast spells to hold her in place. The baby dragon looked on in dismay as he looked on as his mother was slain before his eyes, arrow shafts sticking out of her side and falling to the ground in a huge CRASH.

Then a smelly ugly human climbed up the tree and stole him, put him into his backpack, cackled with glee and climbed back down. Baby dragon was taken away from his home and sold to a human wizard.
